P365 – 052107

I was feeling that my daily photos were starting to get a little stale, er, predictable, er, routine, oh..just say it: Boring.

How many cute kitten photos can one blog take? Well, probably lots but I think my three readers deserve more! So, I am going to make a little self-assignment. This week, I will try to take photos of the technology I surround myself with that I love. You know, the “techy” things in my life that make me “feely” good!

First up, my trusty 3G iPod. Chock full of 15 g (well, almost – there is about 120 MB free, I think) I carry it everywhere. I don’t listen all the time, but I have it so if I want to listen..I can. And, it can be a soundtrack for whatever mode I am in. Perfect for those of us who like to control the soundtrack like they do on Grey’s Anatomy.

These bunnies were very brave as they co-opted the herb garden as their very own B & B on a Sunday morn.

There are those times when you realize that a person who you have in your life is truly a gift to the world. I remember at my uncle’s funeral coming to realize that he was far more than the scary, tall man with the big beard from my childhood and I developed a whole new level of respect for him and who he was.

Today, I went to a surprise reception honoring a woman I have known since I was a child going to summer camp as well as the times I worked there and on. She is terminally ill and her family wanted to honor her life and dedication to this camp. They mounted a fundraiser to support a new building on the camp. It was very successful and today, they surprised her with the oversize check for almost a third over their goal!

Listening to folks talking about her, I was reliving their memories (some of which I share with them and some I had never heard before) and just went down memory lane for a little while in this place that is very special to me and my family. This woman is a wonderful role model of all that is good and decent in the world. I just heard someone lamenting the loss of a friend of his saying that he hoped to be 1/3 of the man that his friend had been. I can only hope I can be 1/3 of the human that this woman is…that would be a goal worth working toward but one that will be hard to reach.

At the camp itself, there are lots of changes from when we first started going to this camp in the 1970s, as you would expect. But, one thing that has not changed and I hope never will is the large porch outside the dining hall that is lined with rocking chairs.

Being there on a Saturday afternoon brought back many Saturday afternoons on that porch, getting counselor mail call and waiting for the staff lunch before we were cut loose for our 24 hours off before the next batch of campers. What did we do? Usually, went camping!!

The Movie Of Your Life Is A Cult Classic

Quirky, offbeat, and even a little campy – your life appeals to a select few.
But if someone’s obsessed with you, look out! Your fans are downright freaky.
Your best movie matches: Office Space, Showgirls, The Big Lebowski

If Your Life Was a Movie, What Genre Would It Be?

The weather could not be better for this weekend’s craft show on campus. My friend and colleague is there with her art. We are happy to have four originals by her in our kitchen. I have wandered around and dreamed of being an artist enough for one day!

They are transforming our student lounge into a fine art quilt show. It is quite something to see both the structure of the display area emerge as well as marvel at the talent that goes into these quilts. I get to wander through the maze to get to my office.

I added the Flickr module to my Netvibes page this morning and fiddled with it to show only photos tagged “p365″, which is what I have been using. When I first did this little task a few months ago, there was one other member on Flickr who was using that tag. Now, there are several more doing the same project….many starting in 2007. I was curious. And, there is so much to Flickr that I have yet to discover, I felt like I should plunk on my spelunker hat and get going into the depths. Wanna go along? Great!

So, you can see all of the public Flickr photos with the tag “p365″ here and many more tagged “project365“.

Then, there is this thing called clusters. Not sure what this about just yet but here’s an example.

the Project 365 group iconThere is also a Project 365 group (which I don’t belong to) that has 735 members in it!

Guess I am not alone with this little diversion.
