yet another fun site – FaceinHole.com

Oh boy…this is as much fun (or more because of the variety) as the ElfYourself site at the holidays. When I saw this “scenario” as they call them, I was in like Flynn.

Here is my first creation! Since you can rotate, zoom, adjust brightness, contrast, saturation – you can make it look pretty good!

Mixwit – make your own virtual Mixtapes

I know I had my missive to the mixtape earlier. This site allows you to make your own. Their old skool skins made me smile because I probably had a lot of tapes that looked like those. Here is my first go at it.

Love Google’s logo for today – hope you wore green!

Upgrades are not always easy – but I still usually jump right in

I was (and still am) pretty darn impressed with the speed improvements with Firefox 3 Beta 4. Snappy!

But, I am not sure if this new Ff or the upgrade I just did on WordPress or the update to Scribefire is the reason but my easy peasy way of blogging is no longer easy (or peasy).

Pooh. I’m off to find another solution. Switched to Flock for the time being but that is not ideal, I don’t think.

Second 5K completed with improvements!!

34:27!! And, I didn’t stop to walk at all!!!

That is almost 6 minutes faster than the first one back in October. I was pretty surprised (and, alright, I admit it – proud of myself) Placed 6th in my age bracket.

Photo set is below. Also, slideshow

Trying another 5K tomorrow…

The Aerobics Girls Warmin' It UpWish me luck!
I’ve been trying some different training so we will see if my time is any better than the last one.

Used the Podcast for Runners from Robert Ullrey – Couch to 5K in nine weeks plan (I started with week 3 since I was running already but hadn’t in a little while)

Then, added DJ Steveboy’s Podrunner Intervals – started at week 3 again

  • Intervals on Monday
  • Long run on Wednesday or Thursday
  • Shorter run and weights on Thursday or Friday

We’ll see….

It’s official – I am an old fogey!

I love hearing music live! I always have. (Although this new iPod Touch has me back in headphones again and I was reminded about HOW MUCH I enjoy music through headphones because you hear all the nuances…but I digress.)

Back to live music…I do enjoy it. The energy from the performers, the stories between songs, all that. But, I have been noticing more and more how bothered I am by those around me during concerts. It could be my own issues of distraction, I am not sure. I have a different T-F theory though. I sense a shift in the mores of the times..we are so used to entertainment in our living rooms that is about as big and loud as it is in live venues. In our homes, we can talk back to the television, dance with abandon with the stereo, answer the phone and yell over the sounds in the kitchen.

However, folks do that same thing at concerts and movies and, to be quite honest, it bugs me! Add that with drinking (well, except at the movie theatre -but I think that popcorn has some kind of additive – I know I find it addictive) and you get me in to old codger stage pretty fast. I admit it…I am bothered by the teenager text messaging all the way through the Spiderman 2 movie, the couple having a conversation during the ballads at Nanci Griffith, the woman yelling into her cell phone during, well, you get the idea…..

But, last night, we found our audience….. at the Anne Murray show. Yes, Anne Murray. We probably brought the average age down to the mid-60s!!

During dinner, we had speculated that the crowd would be quiet, respectful, listening and appreciative. We were right. It was a great show and I was able to listen and enjoy the live music.

All I need now is a cardigan and some warm milk, I know, but it really was a great show!

March 20 – Mr. Rogers would have been 80 – Won’t You Wear a Sweater? I will.

In honor of what would have been Mister Rogers’ 80th birthday on March 20, Mr. McFeely — aka David Newell, the public relations director for Family Communications, Inc. (the nonprofit company founded in 1971 by Fred Rogers) — has a special request. “We’re asking everyone everywhere — from Pittsburgh to Paris — to wear their favorite sweater on that day,”

Won’t You Be My Neighbor Days

I loved Mr. Rogers. Still do. I just HAVE to wear a sweater for this. And dig out my autographed post card that my Mom stood in line to get when we could not get in to see him when we lived in Pittsburgh when I was young.

Join me, won’t you?

Is it just me….

…or does this icon for the new IM client, digsby, look a lot like a Homestarrunner character??

A Techy-Feely moment

Not computer technology, but technology nonetheless. My car turned over to 95000, while I was coming back from the gym after running 30 minutes without stopping!

odometer cam Felt like something worth noting, for some reason!! Hopefully, for the 100000, I will have a camera around like this person did!
